With the 2-year anniversary of their abduction coming on April 14, Act4Accountability will host a fundraiser to provide School-In-A-Bag learning kits and Learning Tents to children currently living in internally displaced (IDP) camps in Northern Nigeria.
As a result of ongoing Boko Haram attacks in Northern Nigeria, approximately 4.7 million children of primary school age in Nigeria have been without formal education since the insurgency began. Their communities have been destroyed and the IDP camps have little to no supplemental education materials available.
Honorees: United States Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX 18th District) will be honored for her commitment to the BringBackOurGirls movement and the internally displaced community (IDPs) of Nigeria.
Fundraiser Goal: We are raising $15,000 to pay for 100 School-In-A-Bag kits and 2 Learning Tents to be delivered through Adopt-a-Camp in one community:
– Each school bag is loaded with age-appropriate textbooks, workbooks, exercise books, drawing books, pencil cases (with content), storybook, etc.
– The Learning Tents Project is aimed at providing makeshift conducive learning spaces in IDP camps and communities where there are no schools. Each Learning Tent accommodates 45 pupils and is furnished with desk/benches, smooth concrete floor, blackboard, teaching aids (Impact Box), educational recreational materials, etc.
